The April Debrief
Sharing a strong mix of insights, upcoming Zanda events, and wins across the finance community.

London | New York
Welcome to the April Edition of the Zanda Newsletter!
April was a strong and resilient month for the Zanda team, with everyone giving it their all and continuing to push forward across a busy period.
We published a new Zanda blog on the topic of fundraising and what it really takes to pitch effectively to investors, offering practical guidance for founders navigating the process, so make sure to keep scrolling to read more about it.
Looking ahead into May, we will be hosting two CFO Roundtables, one in the UK and one in New York, bringing together senior finance leaders for focused, peer-led discussions on some of the most pressing topics shaping the CFO agenda today.
In April, we celebrated Alex as she made her first successful placement, which we are extremely proud of! You can read more about the placement down below.
As the weather warms up, we’re excited for the month ahead and to bring the finance community even more insights and meaningful conversations.
We’d be super grateful, if you find these newsletters insightful to share them with your network. Also, remember to reach out if you have a Finance leader requirement or need any advice on how to elevate your finance function.
Enjoy this month’s edition and if there is anything you would like to see included, get in touch with [email protected]

Zanda Blog | How To Stand Out During A Pitch
In our most recent Zanda blog, we looked into how fundraising is one of the most defining moments in a founder’s journey. In a single conversation, you are expected to communicate not just what you’ve built, but why it matters, why now, and why you are the team to make it happen.
But what separates a pitch that gets polite interest from one that genuinely resonates with investors?
In our latest article, we draw on insights from Fuel Ventures, Forum Ventures, and 25Madison, gathered through individual conversations on our Venture Voices podcast, to unpack what investors are really paying attention to when they hear a pitch.
In our blog we looked at several key factors that make a successful pitch, from the importance of energy and maintaining conviction through repeated pitches, to the role of storytelling in making both your vision and your numbers land, through to how investors assess “why you” in the first few minutes of a conversation.
We also explore how urgency, narrative clarity, and the right team around you, including strong finance leadership, all contribute to a pitch that feels credible, compelling, and worth backing.
If you’re preparing for fundraising, or simply want to better understand how investors think, this is a practical guide grounded in real conversations with VCs.
Upcoming UK Events | Pricing Roundtable

We’re hosting the second edition of our Pricing CFO Roundtable on May 12th in London, following strong demand and a highly successful first session, once again focused on pricing as a strategic lever for growth.
We’re also delighted to be joined by Jenny Millar, pricing expert, as our special guest.
This roundtable is designed for CFOs who want to explore how pricing can be used more strategically to drive sustainable growth, balancing customer value with retention and competitiveness, aligning pricing with cost and margin structures, and navigating increasing complexity as businesses scale.
Rather than presentations, this will be a practical, peer-led discussion grounded in real experience: what’s working, what isn’t, and where finance leaders are rethinking long-held assumptions.
If you missed the first session, this is a great opportunity to join the conversation!
Reach out to Laura Parra if you want to be part of this event.
Upcoming New York Events | Zanda x Upflow

We’re bringing CFOs back together in New York!
On May 27th, we’re hosting an exclusive CFO Roundtable in partnership with Upflow, focused on one of the biggest shifts facing finance leaders today: AI.
This will be a candid, peer-led discussion for CFOs who are actively exploring how AI is changing the finance function, from the tools worth investing in, to where real impact is happening today, to how leaders are thinking about AI at the board level.
We’ll also be announcing a special featured guest in the coming weeks, one you won’t want to miss.
If you’re a CFO looking to stay ahead of the curve and connect with others navigating the same challenges, this conversation is for you.
Make sure you’re following us on LinkedIn as we’ll be sharing more details about the event in the coming weeks.
